Nanny Magic 103 - Music Tip #6

Music vs TV? Music wins every time! 

You can interact with your child while listening to music.

You can pick them up and dance with them.

You can sing to them and with them.

The television does not provide the interaction a child needs.

Now, I don’t hate the tv. but I don’t love it for little ones.

I believe in having proper balance.

I will play a video or two and I’m the one that’s sitting in front of them interacting, talking, and playing with them while incorporating what’s being said on the tv.

For example, a Sesame Street episode will ask ‘what’s the letter of the day?” and I ask them, what is the letter of the day? Its W! yea W!

They’re watching my mouth, my expressions and seeing my excitement.

In time they start recognizing the voices they’ve been listening to, and they get excited cause they know it means they’re about to have that special one on one time with you and those wonderful voices and as they get older they can put a bright red face to that Elmo voice.
